A board role is a conversation role
Much of a non-executive director's value is created one to one: supporting the CEO, asking the question nobody else asks, challenging without taking over. Those conversations rarely get any feedback.
- How talk time was shared between you and the CEO.
- Whether your questions opened the conversation up or steered it.
- When you started giving advice, and how the CEO responded.
- Whether you summarized and checked what you heard.
- How the CEO spoke: as "I", "we" or "they", and about what.
The report is for you. The CEO only sees it if you choose to share it, and the report includes suggestions on how to do that.
ScaleUpNation Board Program
The board member pilot runs with the ScaleUpNation Board Program. Between Day 3 and Day 4 of Class 23, every participant records a coaching conversation with a real CEO and receives an individual feedback report. Patterns from all conversations, anonymized, are discussed in the Day 4 plenary.
Class 23 participants receive the instructions, consent form and upload link by email. No need to apply.
Alumni of Classes 1 to 22 can apply for a pilot place. If you're accepted, your first analysis is free and includes a debrief call.
Which conversations fit
- A one-to-one with your CEO, or a conversation with up to three people, you included.
- In English or Dutch.
- Everyone in the conversation signs a consent form first.
- Your company and the CEO's name are replaced by codes before any optional online analysis.
